The Bowdoin Outing Club encourages students to dream, organize and lead outdoor trips. This fellowship offers the financial support to shape the most creative and adventurous outdoor visions into real opportunities. The expedition should foster a spirit of adventure and encourage personal challenges and skill development and in the end, contribute to the growth of the Bowdoin Outing Club.

The Journey Begins!

We are now embarking on epicness, our journey's mission statement is as follows:

-To drive south of the Mason Dixon line to search for the wild water of the Southeastern region of the United States
-To push ourselves through teamwork and friendship
-To make a "bomb digitty film" about our tom foolery and adventures

After a long winter hiatus away from the river, the four of us are on our way. Currently we have made it out of the great Pine Tree State and are at Sarah Ebel's home in Simsbury CT. Our plan is to drive to the fair state of Virginia tomorrow. The four of us will single handedly change the state motto from "Virginia is for Lovers" to "Virginia is for Kayakers." This much New England spirit has not been seen in Virginia since the glorious and triumphant Joshua Chamberlain (class of 1852) led the Maine boys of the 20th Maine to victory! Our cars are filled to the brim with playboats, creekboats and tons of gear.

We started the season off rightously last weekend on the Cathance River in Topsham. We put in by I295 and took out right before the stream pours into the great Merrymeeting Bay. In between these historic Maine landmarks we shredded the gnar and some skin! With swimmers and carnage galore we tested both our helmets and our skills! The sun was shining and the post river activities were positively spring like. We had a good ol' grill out watching some epic kayaking films.

We will update everyone as soon as we step into liquid, meanwhile occupy yourselves with some photo's of the Cathance!
