It's 6 am, the canoes are yet again on the top of the car, and Sam and I are heading out. Hopefully, we'll get some updates along the way, but if not, see you in Maine. We're excited, but too tired to express it right now.

Packing, Rigging, and the trip to NY
Larissa here, safe and sound with the canoes in Southampton, NY, where they'll live for the next week or so.
We've been getting ready for the big adventure. t - 1 week. We packed out everything we'd need from the BOC - it felt great to pull out the paddling gear again, and managed to shove it all in my car. Granted all the seats were covered floor to ceiling, but we'll fit it all in (plus ourselves) somehow. Needless to say, we're definitely worried about space above anything else, but I feel like if you're more worried for the car trip than for the 132- mile paddle, you're in great shape. Well, I guess Mike always says that the most dangerous things that the BOC does is drive.
That was for sure the case today. It was POURING, which generally sucks when you're driving, but even more so, when you have three canoes tied to the top of your car. But nonetheless, the rigging held up BEAUTIFULLY - good work team!!
